A purple stone for calm, clarity and sobriety.
About amethyst
- Amethyst is purple quartz. Its color comes from traces of iron and natural radiation in the rock it grew in.
- The name is from the ancient Greek amethystos, “not drunk”: the Greeks believed it kept the wearer clear-headed.
- It was once as precious as ruby and sapphire, until huge deposits were found in Brazil in the 1800s. Brazil, Uruguay and Zambia mine most of it today.
